What is Email Marketing

Have you ever downloaded a PDF from a website or maybe bought a handbag from an e-commerce website? Of course, you have!

So, you are probably familiar with the emails that hit your mailbox soon after:

"Did you find it useful"

"Welcome to our family."

"We can't thank you enough for trusting us."


Such subject lines really spark interest in you, don't they? It might also trigger a feeling of warmth and belongingness. Well, that's pretty much what email marketing is all about; sparking that curiosity in you and keeping you engaged.

Email marketing, in other (boring) words, can also be described as a marketing channel that uses emails to promote a business, service, or product. 

You might be wondering what’s the best way to promote your new campaign or inform your clients about the new exciting tool of your software that you've just launched. Well, that's where email marketing comes into play!

Lead Magnet Promotion Email

If you have ever tried to win customers through digital marketing, you probably understand the value of customer information. 

Now, there are many ways to "seek" this information. 

Lead Magnets are one of those ways (and it works!). And the easiest way to seek information is just to ask for it (that's right!). 

But why would someone just give you their information?

Well, they probably won't JUST give away their information like that; you need to offer them something in return.  And that's where lead magnets come into play…

Lead magnets are a great way to generate leads (your future customers) who are interested in your product or service. Lead magnets can take the form of several assets such as ebooks, whitepapers, templates, and a whole lot more.

So how about you offer them a discount coupon or a free downloadable PDF in exchange for their email ID?

And …

Let’s say your lead has given you their email address in exchange for a PDF or an ebook- how do you kick-start a conversation with them? Here's how:

Product Launch Email

Launching a new product is always exciting. What better way to celebrate your newest launch than to share that excitement with your beloved customers?

If you launched a new product in the market, you want people to know (duh!). 

Send them an email to tell them about your latest product (and maybe slide in a promo code too). 

Here's a quirky way to share that announcement with your email list:

Product Pitch or Promotional Email

Marketing is all about how well you pitch your products and services to the customer.

If you can get your customers to relate, the rest is a cakewalk (well, at least most of it). 

A product pitch email can be an effective way to pitch to your users. But unfortunately, sending them tons of emails and asking them to hit the buy button won't do the trick. It has to be more strategic. 

And, well, nobody likes being thrown into their customer's Spam folder. But how to avoid that? Send your follow-up email 3 days after you have initially contacted your customers. After that, be patient and wait for about 1-3 weeks before sending them another email.

This gives your customer a bit of time to get the first email and think before you pester them again. However, if you wait too long to mention your brand, they might forget all about you and move on to one of your competitors instead. So, be on time, keep it short, sincere. 

Pro Tip: Weekly follow-up on the product feature reveals and "coming soon" emails that create curiosity can make the difference.

Pro Tip: Don't hesitate to send your clients follow-up and re-engagement emails; it might (and probably will) take a few attempts to win them over, but it is so worth it.

Personalized Emails Based on Segmentation

We've said this before, and we will say it again; personalized experiences go a long way when it comes to customer satisfaction!

Sending them an email with best wishes on a festive occasion specific to their culture or region is the sort of personalized experience we are talking about. It may not directly lead to purchases, but it will definitely help you build a better relationship with them. 

Does that mean that you will have to send emails individually to each of your customers? Not at all. You can segment and narrow your contact list based on their location, age, gender (and many other categories) and send them the same email. 

Feel free to tweak the style and language of the emails based on the segmentation.
